I was quite disappointed
that nobody had a meltdown over their hair. Although Jael cried, it wasn’t really because she hated her hair, it was that she’d sat in the chair for over 8 hours enduring the tight braiding to put the weave in only to have them decide they weren’t going with that. I don’t think long would have looked good on her anyway. Ultimately, most of them looked pretty good, even Renee. But, poor Cassandra still looked like she had someone’s mop on her head and so did Brittany. Maybe it was just that in the judging, they didn’t have a clue how to style their own hair. And although Natasha’s portrait gallery photo looks nice, her’s looked like a mop too. I liked Dionne’s hair best.
So now Renee’s moved on to Brittany, calling her fake and saying that she was acting like child. Even if she thought Brittany was, who said she needed Renee to talk to her about it? It’s not like she had Brittany were BFFs. But flipping Brittany the bird when she didn’t like her response was so mature. And did you catch the look on Renee’s face when Brittany was called first in the judging? MEOW!! But Brittany’s photo was the best. And for once, it’s not the black girls causing all the drama – so far. However, none of them seem to be that type, they’ve all been very mellow. Unfortunately, that could spell disaster if you’re not getting noticed enough. So Cassandra was eliminated last night. I don't feel too bad, her pictures weren't that great.
Next week, it looks like it's Renee's turn to lose it.

Last night I was able to watch my first episode of the new season so far. Doesn't look like I missed much from what I can tell. I am predicting that Brittany to be in the top five and the one whose friend died as well. If she continues to take good photos, she could be the upset winner. She reminds me of the very first winner a little bit with her mannerisms.

I was sad to see Cassandra go tho because she was so nice... As for Renee, she is so negative, immature and mean-spirited I think she has pulled ahead of Natasha for me as the one who needs to go!
I have to say that my heart did go out to Jael this episode: first, to weave or not to weave (and by the way, i think we all know the long hair would have done her a disservice) and second for the death of her friend. She definitely gets props for the best attitude while grieving/sick etc. on the show.
I have to say, though, how come it always seems that folks are getting dramatic calls from home on these reality shows???

This season so far has been boring & we are only 3 episodes in.
Why was home girl crying through the entire damn episode? I was so happy when she got fronted off but the tears kept a-coming.
Trya made the wrong call at the end, I think Cassandra has more promise that the big white girl.
I liked Cassandra hair bit come on, as white oriented as modeling is, that style could never make it & if you think about it, what could they do with it on the show if she continued on. How many ways can you style a fake afro bush?
Jaslene does need a pork chop like no body's business. She actually needs a pork chop sandwich with cheeses hot sauce & a side of grits. She is way to skinny & does not look healthy to me. She better get her act together or she will be out soon because like the judges, I am seeing no personality. She is not as exciting as I thought she would be when she appeared on the last cycle.
I felt bad for Jael but I am so sick of her mumbling voice (She always sounds like she is eating a sour pickle.) & senseless antics. Also she has bad skin & I am surprised that this has not come up with the judges. I laughed when she said that her friends death was so unexpected cuz, she knew the girl was doing hard drugs & when you do hard drugs an over dose is right around the corner. I hate to sound like a bastard but come on.
If things do not pick up after next week, I will have to stop watching.

This season is kinda boring...besides me wanting to smack Renee upside the head...she is so evil...for no reason
I agree that the season is a bit lackluster. I am starting to think that the draw to watching is trying to guess the silly little antics tyra will try to put those girls up to show to show. Tyra has a good formula. more boring + crazier challenges = people will watch. I would like to think that this formula would hold, but after watching Australia & Britain's Next Top model (a max of 2 shows a piece) I don't think it is true for all segments. Those shows are the absolute worst. Maybe because there are usually only 1-2 Black women. At any rate, this new cycle of ANTM is questionable. I hope it gets better as the season develops.
BTW- I happen to catch BET's Rip the Runway and there were appearances by some former Top Model contestans (Bre-yah, Jade-yuck, Nik-lookin good, Tocarra-of course). They also had the collection of Micheal Knight (1 Runner Up in Project Runway). It is great to see that BET is doing something that is not simply a rip off of a previous MTV show and also encorporating a new wave of young Black men and women in the entertainment/fashion industry.

Hey everyone - I'm glad you've enjoyed these posts. They're actually allowing me to exercise some creative writing skills, of which I always thought I had none!
I agree with most here that there's been a lack of real drama this season. I mean, isn't that a big part of the reason we tune in? That's one reason why I think that, hate her or not, Renee will be around for awhile.
I was OK with Cassandra being eliminated, but mostly because I wasn't really vested in her yet. I don't have a clue about her personality and she hasn't really made an impression, good or bad. The same could be said about Diana, but we do notice her a little more because she's one of the plus-size models. Ultimately, while I think that they both took some lackluster photos, I do think that Cassandra would have had more modeling potential. I also haven't chosen my personal favorite yet.
And Jael did have some good photos, but she's a mumble-mouth, just like the first season winner Adrienne.
Speaking of other winners, and Ayankha's comment about Rip the Runway, I see Eva Diva has a show on BET also. I think it's called something like My Model is Better Than Your Model. It came on Friday night at either 11 or 12. I tuned in at the middle, but I think the premise is that three photographers are assigned three models and they have to stage a shoot using the same theme. That part was interesting, but the judging commentaries went on waaaay too long. I don't think your average viewer is that interested in the composition of each shot.

Tyra got a lot of work to do with these models they dont seem to have it like the last few seasons of girls. The're pretty boring and honestly not one of them them has a "look" that stands out.

I just watched episode 5 & it has been so far the best & most interesting. I think that the elimination choice was appropriate hut sadly, another Black girl bites the dust. Benny Ninja (funny name but I like it) was a mess & a yellow version of Miss J.
Dion does need to work on her look, she is very pretty but she dresses kinda plain, I don't think that it will take much for her to step up her game.
Whitney took the best picture IMHO so i was happy to her get props & win the challenge of which she looked really hot through. That girl sho nuff got some booty.
How in the hell did Jael burn her face, that was a shame, she hardly has anything to curl. She should have had someone else do that I am surprised that it did not come up in the judging. This girl just does not seem stable at all; I think she has a bag of magic mushrooms that she is dipping into when no one is looking!
If Renee is that broke; she should have keep herself at home. It tripped me out when she talked about pawning that bracelet (how ghetto).
